It's All Over!

This will be the last post from us on the blog from Switzerland as we are gearing up for our return to Bahrain. I think that everyone is disappointed that the skiing has come to an end but lots of aching bodies, minds and limbs will be very happy of the rest.

We've had a fantastic final days skiing with most groups heading into France. The improvement that the whole group has made from the start of the week has been amazing people have been tackling slopes today that they would have looked at fearfully at the start of the week. Well done everyone!

The evening activity tonight was snowshoeing that was canceled a few days ago. It was a really nice walk through the crisp forest snow lit by burning torch light. As there is little light pollution and the night sky was so clear we could see hundreds of stars in the Milky Way. Amazing!


Well we are due to set off in just under 10 hours so we are about to have dinner, pack and then get an early night, ready for the early start.

PS. Sorry the technology has let us down this end and I've been unable to upload any photos. Keep checking the blog over the next couple of days, as when I get home I'll upload a few. I'm sure you will all have to look through the several hundred photos your son/daughter has probably taken.

Only one days skiing left!!!

We don't have time for a long post as the DISCO is just about to start. All have had another excellent days skiing but unfortunately we only have one days skiing left. No luck with the photos yet, sorry. No more injuries today either. Everyone is well and have put on there dancing shoes. I'll try and post a longer blog tomorrow and get some photos uploaded.

Better weather and a great days skiing

The mountain winds died down over night, so we could get out on the piste again today. The run close by to our resort was still pretty treacherous though, so we had to get a post bus to get to some good snow.

It was well worth the extra effort as the runs and scenery were breath taking. Everyone has had a good days skiing, less falls, more challenging slopes and a real sense of progress at all ability levels (also you'll be glad to know that there have been no injuries today). The only down side was that we had to wait in a car park for 50 mins to get the bus back to the resort.

We're just about to have dinner and then off snow shoeing (basically strapping tennis rackets to your feet and walking on top of deep snow) so everyone has again been kept busy all day and will be shattered by bed time.

Still not many takers for writing a blog message, only Tufa (see below) I presume that most student are keeping in touch by the wonders of modern technology.

I'll try and sort out the technology this end to try and get some photos posted tomorrow. Don't hold your breath though.

We'll post again tomorrow evening, hopefully after another successful days skiing, weather permitting.

Sounds like you all still had a fun packed day. You are all obviously too tired to blog us back! But "hey" who wants to talk to their parents when you are having so much fun.

Just to update you some of you may have been aware that Mr. Williams was bitten and scratched by a cat before he left Bahrain. He had to spend the first couple of days here convalescing and looking after a nasty infection. He is now back to full strength and was more disappointed than anyone with the weather this morning as he has not skied yet at all. Thank you for all the good wish for Mr W that have been sent.

Boo hoo, no skiing today!

Hi everyone,

All is still well here in Torgon, we had a great second days skiing yesterday. The advanced groups were off exploring the local piste and the beginner groups coming on leaps and bounds, overcoming their fears and getting down the intermediate slope. We then headed off to a water park in the evening where everyone had great fun. By the time we got back to Torgon and had dinner we were all exhausted.

Unfortunately the weather closed in overnight and because of high winds on the mountainside all skiing today has been canceled. Everyone was disappointed but lots of aching muscles were very appreciative. We have kept ourselves amused all day playing 5-a-side football, board games, pool, etc then we visited the thermal baths in the afternoon.

We're just getting ready for dinner now followed by an early night ready to hit the slopes tomorrow.

Still no personal messages yet, I presume that most students have been in contact with home by now anyway, but no one seems keen to post a blog. I'll try to twist some arms tomorrow. I've passed on all the messages that have been sent.

Fraser had his operation today and is fine. Although he did say that he is not going back again.

Hello from Switzerland!!!

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in getting the blog updated, we had technical difficulties trying to post yesterday and didn't have time this morning.

Everyone has had a wonderful first day skiing, the beginners have come a long way and haven't taken too many tumbles and the more advanced skiers have been doing everything from jumps to black runs.

Most people are a little sore but happy. No major injuries and hopefully (touch wood) we won't have any.

We'll try and get some personal messages up from students tomorrow but we are having (more) technical difficulties with the laptop computer, so fingers crossed.
